How To Uninstall DocProject

The DocProject software (assemblies, Add-In, templates and source code) can be removed in the Add or Remove Programs dialog, found in the Windows Control Panel. Find DocProject in the list and click the Remove button. A dialog will be displayed while the software is being uninstalled.

Although it's not recommended, you may have a good reason to remove or replace one or more of DocProject's components manually.

For Just Me installations the Add-In will most likely be copied to your My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Addins folder, but if you've configured a different location for Visual Studio to use then it should have been copied to the location that you specified.

For Everyone installations the Add-In will most likely be in your Application Data folder. For pre-Vista systems this is usually located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\MSEnvShared\Addins and for Vista, C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\MSEnvShared\Addins.

For Just me installations the DocProject templates are commonly found under, My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ProjectTemplates\ and then the appropriate folder for the template's language, such as Visual C# or Visual Basic.

For Everyone installations the templates are normally found in the ProjectTemplates directory for each particular instance of Visual Studio in which DocProject was installed. For example, in Visual Studio 2005 the path might be, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates.

For more information about the DocProject templates, see DocProject Templates.

Global Assembly Cache

Uninstalling any of DocProject's assemblies from the GAC will break existing DocProjects and DocSites and it cannot be done while DocProject is installed. However, if uninstalling DocProject fails to remove assemblies from the GAC they can be removed manually from the GAC folder in Windows Explorer; commonly, C:\Windows\assembly.
